How to Get the French-Girl Look with Lancôme

    04 December 2017

Effortless make-up is synonymous with French style. The Lancôme Lip Bar will help you find your look. A t this year’s So Frenchy So Chic, Lancôme will host a Lip Bar to help you achieve this style and find the colour, texture and technique that suits you best. Festival guests can head to the Lancôme marquee for a free consultation with the experts from Lancôme’s national make-up team and choose from one of five lip looks to wear all day and night.

Lara Srokowski, Lancôme’s National Make-Up Director, says French women understand the importance of balance when it comes to makeup and adapt their style to suit their features and personal taste. “Parisian woman don’t wear a lot of make-up but keep their skin clear and use a twist of colour. It doesn’t have to be too intense – like a lip stain or something quite effortless. It’s an elegant look that suits all complexions,” Srokowski says “Bold lips are on trend but aren’t for everyone. The festival’s span day and night, so we’re creating looks that will have wide appeal and suit all occasions.

“We’ll have options of tones and textures. Two reds – one creamy, orange base and one matte texture with blue undertones for a bold effect –plus a bright fuchsia pink, a pretty plum shade and also a nude. “With the red lip you can adapt to different complexions. For golden Mediterranean skin, try an orange tone, or blue-based red for pale complexions. “French women always like to highlight one feature for make-up, so if someone visits the Lip Bar and already has an eye feature, like a winged eyeliner or smokey look, we’ll choose something more subtle for the lips.”

Srokowski says successful lip style also comes down to application and prep; a good base is needed along with a regular care routine. “It’s about the technique, too. Rather than apply a lipstick or gloss direct, French women often pat it on with a ring finger, which gives a crisp, bold lip without the intensity,” she says. “I normally prep with a lip balm, then apply a liner for a long-wearing result, and finally the lip colour. For lip care, I normally run a facial sculpt over my lips once or twice a week in the shower. If it’s gentle enough for the skin it’s gentle enough for the lips. You don’t want to use anything too abrasive.” Clear, luminous skin is the final piece of the puzzle, she says.

Lancôme’s national make-up team will also be offering its signature Parisian Glow treatment at the Lip Bar on the day – another complimentary service. Once you’ve treated your face to a French makeover, head to the Kérastase Braid Bar to finish the look. There are three braid styles to choose from.
