    Inside our Kerastase Braid Bar

By Noelle Faulkner 04 January 2018

From boho-luxe to a classic French braid, get a fresh ’do on the day – for free.

Looking to add a little more chic to your day?

Beauty brand Kérastase has set up a complimentary braid bar on site, with stylists who will happily talk you through the benefits of braids before giving you some new braided locks to rock throughout the day. The service returns to So Frenchy So Chic in Melbourne and Sydney this year and arrives in Adelaide for the first time.

Choose from a classic French braid, a chic braided bun, or a pretty half-up, half-down side style to really get into the spirit and look the part. Kérastase representative Caitlin Keaney says it’s a stylish and practical summer hairstyle. “We are coming into perfect braid weather. Braids are a great way to keep your hair off your face and neck in the heat, with the added bonus of keeping the frizz in check in the humidity. Plus it’s a cheeky way to keep your hair looking stylish when it is due for a wash,” Keaney says.

Apart from being a French style staple, the braid is ideal for the festival because anyone can wear it. Paired with a flower crown (also available at So Frenchy So Chic), it creates an interesting and fresh festival look. “Braids are suitable for every person, for every occasion. Fine hair, thick hair, long or short – a braid is your perfect style partner,” Keaney says.

“The other great thing is the versatility. A relaxed, loose side braid can be achieved in a matter of seconds, or you can really spend the time creating the perfect back-braided topknot.“No matter what kind of braid you are creating, it is important to have all the right tools on hand, such as hair ties and bobby pins, and a great hairspray such as Kérastase Laque Couture or VIP Volume In Powder to hold that perfect look in place.”

If that all sounds complicated, head down to the Braid Bar and have an expert work their magic. If you love it, they’ll no doubt be happy to answer your questions about how to recreate the look at home, or get some tips on other styles such as fishtail, waterfall or rope braids. With so many to choose from, you’re bound to find a favourite. “Classic, boho, beach babe – there is a braid for every style. It’s a way we can show off our personality, flair and sophistication through our hair,” Keaney says.

“I love the look of a fierce, tight, inverted French braid but can’t go past a loose crown braid pinned just behind my ear. So simple, so chic.”
