    Lou Doillon lay low

By Vincent Hanon 11 October 2015

RELEASED through Cartell Music, Lay Low is the name of the second record of Lou Doillon.  Places, which came out in 2012, was a huge success in France, going double platinum shortly after its release.

In the same electro-acoustic vein as Places, Lay Low is an album full of hauntingly beautiful songs that Doillon wrote for guitar and recorded with Taylor Kirk (aka Timber Timbre) between Christmas and New Year’s Eve in Montreal.

The result is a melancholic and soothing folk pop sound, with a defiant, sometimes almost confrontational outline that might sound a little bit like Patti Smith – but only to lazy journalists.

Doillon is a natural, and continues to sings in English with a distinctive, laid-back voice that belongs to no one else but herself.

This is the ideal soundtrack to hot summer days.
